New Boozy Fruits
For me there’s nothing quite like Christmas than popping open a jar of boozy Christmas fruits. I’m therefore rather lucky that my fabulous food PR client, Opies are absolute specialists and produce some of the very best. Luckily for me, they have launched two new lines this year made, perhaps, with my most favourite things. Their Stem Ginger in Famous Grouse and Christmas Fruits in Courvoisier are divine. I love having some preserved fruits in alcohol in the cupboard at Christmas – they’re a quick and easy dessert or a great stocking filler for foodie friends.
Opies Stem Ginger with Famous Grouse takes succulent, young Chinese Stem Ginger which is gently infused with the UK’s number one blended whisky – Famous Grouse. Simply adding the infused ginger delivers a luxurious and spicy finish to a variety of bakes and desserts such as Christmas pudding, mince pies, home-made cheesecake and crumbles. The spicy whisky syrup gives drinks extra oomph – especially a Whisky Mac. Packed into an attractive 500g globe jar. RRP £6.99 and they will be available from selected Waitrose and Ocado.
Opies Christmas Fruits with Courvoisier is quite possibly the BEST thing ever – a generous mix of Figs, Apricots, Dates and Cranberries in delicately spiced syrup and Courvoisier Cognac. The Courvoisier perfectly complements the fruits and enhances the exceptional festive flavour. The fruits are delicious served simply as they are or with whipped cream, thick yogurt or vanilla ice cream. I may well use them to make a very luxurious bread and butter pudding or as part of a boozy Christmas cake. Exclusively available from Waitrose and Ocado, the 460g jar is priced at £8.99.
The two new variants complement Opies’ existing range which is available from Waitrose, Ocado and speciality food stores like delicatessens and farm shops.
